Ginny Weasley
After the events that take place in the franchise's main books and movies, Harry Potter goes on to marry Ginny Weasley. Obviously, Weasley has that iconic red hair that the rest of her family has, but she's also described as having freckles, long hair, and brown eyes. The actress who played Weasley, Bonnie Wright, had nearly all of the same features as her counterpart in the books except one.
Wright had blue eyes in the movies, which honestly is a pretty small detail and doesn't really have much importance to the storyline or the plot of the books.
Neville Longbottom
Neville Longbottom is probably one of the more memorable characters from the Harry Potter franchise. He's just incredibly likable, and we're sure that a lot of that comes from his physical traits. He was described in the books as being a bit rounder and with blonde hair. So, this AI-generated image does a really good job of conveying both those physical traits and the sense of jolly that you get from his look.
In contrast, his character was played by Matthew Lewis, who doesn't share many of the same physical traits as his in-book counterpart. Still, the actor did a great job of conveying the same mannerisms and personality.
Lucius Malfoy
Lucius Malfoy was a death eater and the father of Draco Malfoy. So, it makes sense that this image of Lucius has some similarities to the image of Draco that's on this list. Both characters are shown as being pretty pale and having pointy facial features. Jason Isaacs played Lucius in the movies, and he did a phenomenal job. He also looked the part, despite not sharing much with this image.
Isaacs doesn't share many physical features with this image. He has a much more squared jaw, but the two do share the same color of hair and that same intense stare.
Lily Potter
Lily Potter was another character that J.K. Rowling wrote pretty flattering descriptions of. She wrote that Lily had beautiful green eyes and the same stare as her son, Harry. She was described as having dark red hair, which this AI-generated image does a really good job of replicating. In fact, it does a good job of replicating all of Lily's features, especially the bright green eyes that she passed on to Harry.
The role of Lily was played by Geraldine Somerville, who, despite being a perfect fit and doing a great job, doesn't look too similar to this image of a young Lily Potter.
Vernon Dursley
This is one character that you can say the casting team probably did the best job with. This AI-generated image of Vernon Dursley, Harry Potter's uncle, looks exactly like the actor that played him in the movies, Richard Griffiths. The two look so similar that you could probably make the argument this image was just a portrait of the actor. They both have the same general face shape, hair, and iconic mustache.
In the books, Dursley was described as having dark hair and appearing as if he had no neck. This image certainly got all of those traits pretty accurately as far as we're concerned.
Petunia Dursley
Unlike Harry Potter's uncle, the actress who played his aunt didn't look quite as similar to her character in the book. Firstly, the character in the book was described as having blonde hair, while Fiona Shaw, the actress who played the character in the movie, had black hair. There are also a couple of more differences, as you can see from this image. Shaw didn't have the same face shape or teeth.
Petunia Dursley was described as having prominent teeth, a very long neck, and thin facial features. Those are all features that the actress lacks, but that's probably a good thing. Still, Shaw nailed the character's personality when she played her in the movies.
Sirius Black
In addition to Sirius Black having one of the best names in the franchise, he was also described as having one of the most distinct looks. Black was described as possessing good looks when he was younger but losing them during his stint in Azkaban. When he and Harry Potter first met, Black had dark hair that had grown out, although he still had his good looks. Gary Oldman played his character in the movies.
Oldman nailed the long hair, but his hair was a bit lighter in color, and his facial features don't quite match up with this AI-generated image of the infamous Black.
Cho Chang
Fans of the Harry Potter movies remember Cho Chang being played by Katie Leung. And in general, the actress matches up pretty well with what Chang was described as looking like in the books. J.K. Rowling described Chang as having dark hair that was long, as well as a freckled nose. If you look up a photo of the actress at the time of the movie, she doesn't look too dissimilar to this image.
Fans of the books will also remember that there were a few changes made to Chang's character in the movie, but these mostly had to do with her personality or the events she was thrown into.
Fred and George Weasley
The actors that were cast to play the mischievous Weasley twins, Fred and George, are actually twins in real life, and they look a lot like J.K. Rowling's description of the two boys. James and Oliver Phelps were cast to play Fred and George, and they both have the same bright red hair as their characters. However, that might just be where the similarities to their book counterparts end.
J.K. Rowling described the twins as having freckles like the rest of the family but also being a bit stockier than the other siblings, which you can certainly see in this image.
Dudley Dursley
Who could forget Harry Potter's cousin, Dudley Dursley? The character was everything you wouldn't want in a cousin. J.K. Rowling wrote that he also had a pink complexion, blonde hair, and blue eyes. Harry Melling is the actor that played the young Dursley in the movies, and while he nailed the part, he didn't quite look the part. He had dark hair and lacked the pink complexion of the book character.
He also wasn't quite as large as the boy pictured in this image, although he did have the same general face shape and mastered the same look.
Draco Malfoy
We have to admit this image of Draco Malfoy is a bit terrifying, but that's what Malfoy was meant to look like and convey. J.K. Rowling wrote that Malfoy had all of the attributes of a future villain: He was arrogant, pale, had pointy features, and his hair was white. While Tom Felton, the actor cast to play Malfoy, didn't have quite the same features, he still nailed the attitude.
If you were trying to dream up a dark wizard or create one in "Hogwarts Legacy," it'd be pretty hard to do better than the boy pictured in this image. He just looks terrifying.
Luna Lovegood
Luna Lovegood had a very distinct personality, both in the books and in the movies. She also had a very distinct look. J.K. Rowling described Lovegood as having hair that was dirty blonde, along with almost-white eyebrows and a perpetually surprised look due to her facial features. This image of Lovegood does a pretty good job of replicating those characteristics. It also looks a lot like the actress who played her, Evanna Lynch.
However, there were a couple of differences in Lynch's look, including lighter-colored hair and different-colored eyes. Still, both this image and the actress look a lot alike. They also kind of both portray that same quirkiness that Lovegood was known for.
Cedric Diggory
The wizarding world is filled with tragic characters, and Cedric Diggory may just be chief among them. Diggory was known for being brave, modest, loyal, and handsome. J.K. Rowling described him as having bright eyes and chiseled features. He was also known for his love of quidditch. Diggory was played by none other than Robert Patterson, who nailed Diggory's charismatic personality but didn't quite match perfectly with the description Rowling gave.
One of the biggest differences was Patterson's blonde hair, which differed from the description of Diggory Rowling wrote in the book. In her writing, Rowling said that Diggory had dark hair.
Ron Weasley
Ron Weasly is a fan favorite, as is the actor who played him in the movies, Rupert Grint. However, there are some differences between the actor and his counterpart from the books. In the books, Weasley is thinner and described as tall, like his brothers and father. Grint isn't as lanky and lacks the freckles that J.K Rowling described Weasley as having. The two also don't share quite the same nose.
That said, Grint still did a great job of portraying his character, even if he doesn't quite line up with Ron Weasley from the books or from this image. In fact, we prefer his version of Weasley to this image.
Minerva McGonagall
It would be impossible to forget about Minerva McGonagall. She was one of the most important professors at Hogwarts while also being eerily similar to some of the teachers we've had in the past. J.K. Rowling described her as being slender and tall, wearing her hair up in a bun, and possessing a stern look. However, the actress who played her doesn't have any of the same characteristics as this image.
Maggie Smith played the iconic professor, and she honestly did an incredibly good job. She did such a good job that it's hard to look at this image and think of McGonagall. There's also the fact that this image kind of resembles the farmer's wife from "American Gothic."
James Potter
Like Harry Potter's mother, we don't get too many glimpses of James Potter, Harry's father. However, he was described as having many of the same features as Harry, which is pretty easy to tell from looking at this AI-generated image. J.K. Rowling wrote that James wore glasses, had dark hair, and had a thin figure. You could probably use any of those descriptions and apply them to Harry, as well.
In the movies, James is played by Adrian Rawlins, who doesn't look much like this image of James. However, the two do share the same friendly and welcoming look.
Hermione Granger
Another important character from the franchise was Hermione Granger. And the character in the book differed a bit more than others when it came to her on-screen counterpart. Emma Watson, who played Granger, had normal-looking teeth, while the book version of Granger was described as having buck teeth. Apart from that, the hair in this image matches Watson's hair fairly well, as do the eyebrows. There was actually an effort by the director to make the teeth match during shooting.
During the shooting, Watson wore fake teeth for a short time. However, the director eventually got rid of them after seeing that they just didn't work and made acting impractical. They probably would've also drastically changed what fans think of when they think of Granger.
Dolores Umbridge
Dolores Umbridge was a bureaucrat from the Ministry of Magic in the Harry Potter series, and she was meant to be very annoying. The author described her as being large, with eyes that appeared as if they were popping out. Honestly, the description of her in the book is really terrifying, which is reflected in this rendition. In the movies, she was played by Imelda Staunton, who did a great job of capturing her personal traits.
However, Staunton doesn't share many similarities with this image. She's much more attractive, and honestly, her character in the movie reminds us more of Marry Poppins, if Poppins dressed in pink.
Fleur Delacour
J.K. Rowling's description of Fleur Delecour was pretty flattering. She described Delecour as having "a woman of such breathtaking beauty that the room seemed to have become strangely airless. She was tall and willowy with long blonde hair and appeared to emanate a faint, silvery glow." She was also said to have blue eyes, and we think that this AI-generated image of her looks pretty close to the way she was described in the books.
That said, the actress who played her, Clémence Poésy, also shared many of the same traits, not to mention that both the character and the Poésy were French, which seems fitting.
Severus Snape
Severus Snape was another character in the wizarding world who was described as having very distinct features. J.K. Rowling wrote that Snape had pale skin, stained teeth, with long, dark hair. In addition, he was also described as having cold eyes. This was probably all done to convey the image of Snape as a villain, and he certainly looks like one in this image, as did the actor who played him.
Alan Rickman matches up almost perfectly with this rendition of Snape, so much so that you could probably just pass it off as an illustration of the veteran actor himself. The biggest difference between the two might just be the eyes, but everything else looks the same.
Argus Filch
For whatever reason, the description of Argus Filch, as well as the actor who played him, fit perfectly with what you'd think of when you think of a caretaker. J.K. Rowling described the groundskeeper as being an old man with long thinning hair and a mean demeanor. He was supposed to be a somewhat creepy character that usually appears at night, and this image certainly reflects that creepy nature.
That said, David Bradley, the actor that played the character, shares a lot of physical similarities with the old caretaker, and he did a really great job of portraying him in the movies. In fact, he did such a good job that we now just think of him when we think of any groundskeeper.
Harry Potter
There is perhaps no character from the series that's as iconic as Harry Potter himself. And Rowling went out of her way to describe the character in her series. She wrote that Potter had black hair, green eyes, and of course, that iconic scar that was shaped like a lightning bolt. She also described him as being rather small or skinny, despite his age. Daniel Radcliffe, who played Potter in the movies, mostly lived up to this description.
However, as you can see from this AI-generated image, there are some differences. For one, the boy in this image has a much thinner face than Radcliffe. He also has green eyes, while Radcliffe has blue eyes and couldn't wear contacts during his performance.
Bellatrix Lestrange
Helena Bonham Carter played Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter films, and she did a fantastic job. However, the actress doesn't share much in common with this image of Lestrange, which is probably a good thing. The villain was described as being tall and having thin features, along with greasy-looking dark hair. In short, if there was a checklist for villainous features, she would've checked all of the boxes.
So, it makes sense that this rendition of her looks pretty terrifying. Still, we're big fans of Carter, so we honestly prefer her version, even if she doesn't look the part.
Remus Lupin
Remus Lupin was a professor at Hogwarts, and he was described as having slightly graying hair and a thin figure. David Thewlis played his character in the movies, which honestly was a pretty great casting decision. However, he doesn't share many of the same physical traits as this AI-generated image of Lupin, which shows a much thinner version of the professor with more stubble and pointer facial features than the actor.
Honestly, this image of Lupin makes him look much wearier, which is probably what J.K. Rowling was going for when she described his character in the books. After all, his character did have to endure a good bit in both the books and the movies.
Tom Riddle
Tom Riddle was the name of Voldemort before he took the latter title, which the wizarding world would come to know him by. As you can tell from this image of him, his appearance changes drastically after he becomes Voldemort. He's much more pale and hideous as he grows older and eviler. That said, there is still something extremely unsettling about this image that might lead one to believe this boy had some dark tendencies.
Christian Coulson played Tom Riddle in the movies, and he also shares some similar features to the Riddle in this image, including that same creepy look and dark hair.
Lord Voldemort
This rendition of Voldemort pretty much looks exactly like the Voldemort that we get in the films. However, that's not too surprising, considering J.K. Rowling wrote a detailed description of the villain. She described him as having extremely pale skin and a flat nose. Still, it's pretty amazing how close this AI-generated image looks to Ralph Fiennes in the films. The makeup team really did a great job with this character.
The only difference is that the Voldemort we got in the movies didn't have red eyes, but they're also pretty hard to make out in this rendition of the character. His eyes are covered by the shadows from his eyebrows.
Bill Weasley
Harry Potter's best friend, Ron Weasley, had quite a lot of siblings, the oldest of which was Bill Weasley. Like the other Weasley children, Bill was said to have red hair and freckles. Perhaps the biggest difference between him and his siblings was that he wore a ponytail. In the movies, he was played by Domhnall Gleeson, who also sported bright red hair, although he wasn't seen in a ponytail.
Still, Gleeson looks pretty similar to this image of Bill. The two even share a lot of the same facial features, if not the freckles and a couple of other minor details.
Viktor Krum
Viktor Krum was played by Stanislav Ianevski in the movies, but the two actually didn't share that many physical similarities. In the movies, Ianevski is tall and handsome, while J.K. Rowling describes him as being much more similar to this image of Krum. She wrote that he was tall and lanky, with a hooked nose and other pointy features. However, the actor still did a great job with the character.
The two also shared other similarities, such as their nationalities. Both the actor and the character he played in the movies are from Bulgaria, and Rowling has said that after the events of the book, Krum went on to play quidditch on Bulgaria's national team.
Pansy Parkinson
Pansy Parkinson wasn't the most prominent character in the Harry Potter franchise, but she certainly played a few important roles. She was a member of the house Slytherin and a good friend of Draco Malfoy. In the books, she was described as having a pug face, which shows in this image. However, the actress that played her in the movies, Scarlett Byrne, looked much different than her book counterpart.
Byrne had much more flattering features than what we see in this image. Still, there are a couple of similarities that a pretty minor, such as the nose. However, that's about it, and Byrne differs in appearance in pretty much every other way.
Nymphadora Tonks
The character named Nymphadora Tonks appears in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," and she is described as having very distinct features. J.K. Rowling wrote that Tonks was pale, had a heart-shaped face, short violet hair, and dark eyes. However, the actress that played Tonks, Natalia Tena, had longer hair, green eyes, and a different facial shape than her counterpart from the books. However, she did still have the same hair color.
The Tonks from the books would've looked a lot more like the woman in this image, but probably with spiky hair as opposed to just having a short haircut.
Narcissa Malfoy
Draco Malfoy's mother, Narcissa Malfoy, was a pretty complex character in the series. However, she was described as looking pretty much as one would expect. She shared many of the same physical traits that both her son and husband possessed. She was pale, with pointy features and grey eyes. In fact, this AI-generated image is pretty much how we would've imagined her had we not seen her character in the movies.
Helen McCrory played her in the films, and the veteran actress did a fantastic job, but she had much more attractive facial features than the rendition of Narcissa in this image.
Charlie Weasley
If you don't remember Charlie Weasley in the movies, then don't worry; he doesn't actually appear very much. In fact, he only really appears in a family photo. However, he does have a larger role in the books, where he is described as having a much stockier build than most of the other Weasley siblings. He was also described as having freckles and red hair, like many of the other Weasley children.
In the movies, he was played by Alex Crockford, and it's honestly hard to get a good look at him in the photo he appears in. However, a quick search for the actor reveals that he doesn't have too much in common with this image. Still, we're kind of sad his character was pretty much cut out of the movies.
Gilderoy Lockhart
Gilderoy Lockhart seemed like the very definition of a bumbling hero until the series progressed and his true nature was revealed. J.K. Rowling wrote that he was extremely handsome and had all the attributes you would think of if you were to think of a knight in shining armor. To that extent, this AI-generated image is a pretty good rendition of the professor, and it does a good job of capturing that same quality Rowling described.
However, the actor Kenneth Branagh, who played the character in the movies, doesn't look similar to this image. The two vaguely share the same hair, but that's about it. Lockhart also looks way younger in this image than he is in the movies. He almost looks like he could be a student here.
Peter Pettigrew
It's pretty common for authors to give villains similar physical traits to things like rats or snakes. That's probably why Peter Pettigrew was described as having small eyes, thinning hair, and a sharp nose. Honestly, this AI-generated image is a pretty good depiction of what we might think of when we think of Pettigrew. However, it's probably a bit more terrifying than what our imagination would come up with.
Timothy Spall played the villain in the movies, and he and the makeup team did a great job of conveying those rat-like features and traits. However, their rendition didn't really look like this image.
Merope Riddle
The life of Merope Riddle is probably one of the most tragic in the entire Harry Potter series. She was the mother of Voldemort, but she wasn't described as having really villainous features. Her character doesn't actually appear in the movies, but we are given some descriptions by the author. J.K. Rowling wrote that she was pale, with pretty plain features. She also suffered from a condition that made her eyes stare in different directions, as depicted in this image.
Still, she's not the most villainous-looking character in the franchise. In fact, her character conveys a strange sense of sadness, which we guess makes sense considering what happens to her.
